Anyone know if region 1 dvds exist for this?

A Region 1 DVD release was announced years ago (meaning: probably about a decade back). However, that release was canceled well before it actually happened. From what I recall reading online back then, the problem was all about some odd conflict with the North American rights to the show. It was something like: somewhere along the line the North American rights to the title & characters ended up being owned by a different group than the one who owned the North American rights to the actual episodes. The two groups never could come to an agreement about how to split the money from a DVD release; so instead neither of them is getting anything. I have seen absolutely no signs that the two sides are likely to overcome their differences in the foreseeable future.

If you go looking for them, players that will play DVDs from all regions (and convert the PAL format) aren't all *that* expensive. If you want to get actual commercially pressed DVDs of Blake's 7 (and not DVD-R dupes of 1980s era VHS recordings), then your best bet is probably to buy an all-region DVD (or blu ray) player and then order the UK DVDs.

I used to look all the time, as VHS releases existed.

I resorted to buying the R2 set.

Several years ago there was talk of a R1 release, but it's never happened.

I read somewhere the current owners of the series don't think it would sell in North America so they won't go to the expense of releasing it region 1 DVD.
