Based on the notes written by author Tony Atwood at the end of the Blake's 7 programme guide, what direction to think the story would have gone in had he written his proposed sequel novel State of Mind? Between Avon/Vila, Korell, and Tor who do you think would have come out on top had there been a resolution to the cliff hanger ending set up at the end of the Afterlife novel and how do you think the story would have ended?

Afterlife was hated by the fans. It wasn't a great book. A sequel based on Darrow's Lucifer trilogy would work better.

I did write my own sequel a few years back (Avon, Vila, Jenna, new ship etc). One of B7's longevity is that there was no definitive ending. So Avon could have teamed up with Servalan and ruled the galaxy.

My version of a sequel would have had Blake (obviously not dead) taking his fight back to Earth and blowing up the Federation council with a suicide bomb (he was a terrorist).
A futile act, but it was always gonna end badly for Blake.
Avon IS the only important character, given that Blake is dead. He was shown bleeding to drive home the point he was killed.
And the idea that only Avon survived comes from hearing Avon's gun still firing during the ending credits of "Blake".
I particularly didn't get why Attwood felt the need to give Avon a sister, whom he had never mentioned, rather than a brother, who had been mentioned, albeit only once. It's like the sudden arrival of Spock's brother in Star Trek V.
