A few years ago on Channel 4 they did a programme on the 100 Scariest Moments. It's quite often shown (or at least WAS) on a lot of their partner channels. Anyway, there were 12 on the list that I whole-heartedly agreed with! They are: DEAD OF NIGHT MICHAEL JACKSON'S THRILLER SHALLOW GRAVE FATAL ATTRACTION RESERVOIR DOGS SUSPIRIA CANDYMAN ROSEMARY'S BABY THE WICKER MAN HELLRAISER FRIDAY THE 13TH A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
They did this in the US too, although it was limited strictly to theatrically released films. It aired on Bravo. I believe there is or was Bravo Channel in the UK too but it's not relation the Bravo US. Bravo US originally started life as an arts channel, showing documentaries on subjects like Andy Warhol and Martha Graham, etc. but it's quickly devolved into Andy Cohen's The Real Housewives... Network.
Anyway, if I remember right, Suspiria was listed at #29. I don't recall which scene, either the hanging scene or Sarah covered in the wire. Jaws was #1, that kind of p!ssed me off. There were some interesting choices though, Alice, Sweet Alice this 70's film co-starring a very young Brooke Shields that is sort of an American homage to Giallo. There were some quirky choices too like The Wizard of Oz. I don't mind including Jaws, I just don't think it should have been in the Top 10, let alone taken number one.
The following year Bravo did 30 More Great Scary Movie Moments (or something) but by then they were grasping at straws. Most were films that had been released between the two years of production on the first special and the second. Some odd choices ended up way high on the list (e.g. A Clockwork Orange was in the Top 5.)
