DVD

I recently just watched this film with my father and I fell in love with the film. There are really no DVD's available for the film since it is out of print here in USA. Does anyone know where I can find this film, or better yet does anyone know if it is to be re-released since Black Book is out in theatres sturing up populatrity? Any help would be most appreciated, Thanks.

If you can play Region 2, the UK DVD is available from Amazon.co.uk

The Dutch version (PAL/REGION2) is still for sale in the Netherlands (www.bol.com or www.eBay.nl). The UK version (PAL/REGION2) can also be bought through www.play.com (Free Worldwide Shipping!). Until now all issued versions worldwide have a maximum duration of 152 minutes (in Germany even only less than a 100 minutes).

However, on 10 April 2007 the 215(!) minutes (TV-)version will be released in the Netherlands under the title "Voor Koningin en Vaderland" ("For Queen and Fatherland"). This is the actual movie + 60 minutes of scenes only used for the TV-series of this movie, which was broadcasted in the late 70's on Dutch TV by TROS Broadcasting corporation. This will be a feast for the real "Soldier of Orange"-fan. This special edition 2DVD set can be bought through www.bol.com (and anywhere else in the Netherlands) for only EURO 19.95. ENJOY!!!

Judging by my old copy the uk dvd was slightly cut-missing some footage on the ship as they`re rescued by the Royal navy & the intermission.

SPOILER SPOILER.I must have got a dodgy copy then although I unloaded it and picked up the r1 (now deleted & exchanging hands for silly money)which has a good Verhoeven commentary. The scene preceding "death on the bog" has Alex(Dutch ss guy)refusing to hand a starving kid some food although if I remember he just throws it on the ground.Verhoeven states that he now regrets this scene & was trying to make Alex misguided rather than a nasty person. In my opinion he was right the first time:a few months on the Eastern front would harden anybody`s character & besides it perfectly sets up what has to be one of the most squalid & memorable deaths in film history!

I thought Starstrip Hooters was pretty good fun!

I tried getting one on ebay, though it seems everyone wanted one and it was going for way too much money, at least $55, and that's a little steep for me, for a DVD that is... so I found a site that had them:

http://www.axelmusic.com/productDetails/013131125399?upd=1

for $27.97
I received it the other day, brand new, R1... they're outta Denmark I think... but it's R1 along with other DVDs as well..
