Which came first? The joke or this scene in the movie?

You know the scene where Snowman gets beat up by the bikers in the roadside cafe and then runs over their motorcycles with his semi truck as he leaves?

I read of a joke though after this movie came out and before seeing the movie and scene in question.

Some trucker is in a truck stop and gets hassled by bikers who also steal his food.
After he leaves, one of the bikers says, "What a loser! He can't fight.
And the waitress says, "He can't drive either. He just ran over a whole row of motorcycles!"

Does anyone know of which one came first and inspired the other?

The joke is older. I recall watching the movie the first time and knew once Snowman was thrown out of the bar he was going to drive over the motorcycles per the joke.
