Was the director protective of the actress who played Tony's sister?

Because it seems that any scenes involving the family that get overly abusive or involve Tony cussing out his parents she is surprisingly absent?

reply

Hmmm. Does make sense.

reply

Yeah if you watch the scene the sister conveniently exits the room right before Tony says "Two, two twice, two f-cking times, this raise today and dancing at the disco, you sure as f-ck never did, a$$hole"

reply

That was probably done to center the scene on Tony, the leading character.

That way it's Tony vs. the authority figures, rather than a general family fight.

reply

That is true but then again when Tony goes off on his Mom and says "you only have 3 shit children now", where was the sister? She is strangely absent from the table.

reply

Who wants to stay around and participate in ugly family arguments when there's anything better to do? Like, cleaning the litter box or running the engine in an airtight garage?

I honestly don't remember the details, but it's perfectly reasonable for a family member to leave the room during pointless arguments. And it makes slightly better cinema with fewer participants.

reply

She wasn't in the scene to begin with, and the scene began with just a silent dinner.
