Did William Devane remind you of Bruce Dern?

He totally reminded me of Bruce Dern in the movie. The slow, deliberate way he talked, the slight coutryish accent and his buck teeth. It's funny. When this movie was first released, it was dismissed as grade-Z crap. Compared to today's mindless action movies, it's like watching Citizen Kane.

Ron Pearlman I thought ..

When he had the sunglasses on he reminded me of a younger Jack Nicholson

reply

His voice and manner did remind me somewhat of Jack Nicholson.

Also: Tommy Lee Jones looked really strange when he was younger!

reply

Tommy Lee actually reminded me somewhat of Brad Pitt at that time. And was actually somewhat attractive.
Now I am a Tommy Lee fan because he is a good actor and I like the sly humor he can project as well as intensity.
But handsome now, he is not.

"Compared to today's mindless action movies, it's like watching Citizen Kane." I'll second that emotion.

reply

Yes, kind of. But he didn't have that crazy face that Bruce Stern can do sometimes.

reply

William Devane does not have buck teeth.

He's a sexy man with a very nice smile. It makes my heart flutter.

I'm so looking forward to seeing this movie. I'm going to need a cold shower or jump into a pool with freezing cold water after seeing it.

He's too old for me now but seeing him in an old movie from the 70's....yowza.

He doesn't have buck teeth, but his top row of teeth are prominent.

He has a rep as a TV guy nowadays because of Knot's Landing, but he was in some great flicks in 70s including Family Plot with, HEY, Bruce Dern.

He reminded me of Dern in this one a little bit only because Dern has played a few off-kilter Vietnam vets in films such as Coming Home.

@corinnacarpenter - aren't you the same person with the Vic Morrow infatuation over on the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry boards? Who's next, Roy Scheider?

reply

I know quite a few Vic Morrow fans and many of them are women. Morrow was a real man. And what's wrong with Roy Scheider? He was awesome too.

Are you jealous because you don't have the sex appeal Vic Morrow had?

Uhm, no need to go on the offensive there, I'm not looking for a flame war. I didn't say there was anything wrong, you just seem to have an obsession with unheralded and "unglamorous" 70s male actors.

reply

His voice reminded me of a young jack nicholson..

They got that same sombre tone
