They couldnt have all died!!

In the beginning crash, some people fall on the ground and just roll and the car that flipped over with all of the other people in it someone had to live, they werent going that fast! They stopped and flipped over there had to be at least 10 surviors, i know its a movie but come on!

they were all killed.

Even if they weren't going that fast (they would have slowed down a bit as the cars crashed through the wooden fence), the impact from a fall from that height (about 25 feet or more) almost certainly would have killed them, especially since the car landed upside-down. Even a lower speed would not have saved them as it's rare for anyone to survive a fall from a height greater than 15 feet.

I would bet most people can survive a fall from 15 feet, unless you fall on your head.

It was never revealed how many people were killed in the Ocean View Park crash - Henry Fonda's character just says "people are dead" when he tells Segal about it. The cars that flipped upside down - surely they were killed. But some could have survived.

What's more interesting about this film is I always forget the group of people involved in that first accident. You see them board the coaster, and talk to one another as they go up the first incline. You see their reaction shots as they go down the first drop. Surely the filmmakers won't kill these likeable people off? Think again...
