Gore in first scnene

I remember seeing this film as a kid and the first coaster scene being very gory. As an 80s kid some thing have been distorted. But upon further viewings, Seen it again and it's disturbing but not what I remember. Is there a true copy of what the original mess was like? I would pay to see this version.

I saw it when it came out and while the scene was horrifying it wasn't really gory. Back in the 1970s, a PG rating meant it couldn't be too gory.

Looks to me as if it had the old 'A' so no gore. Plenty of suspense in the opening scene but I couldn't see a lot of anything because it takes place at night.
