The rescuer complete different story

I was 7 year old when I read this book, I can't remember much but I am sure it hasn't nothing to do with the devil's bayou. It was about rescuing a poet from dark castle and she and another mouse ( Not Bernard ) had this great adventure in Norway.
I remember also that was the first time she saw Bernard and how he convince her to go, (he was very charming) by herself and she would have met someone else there... or something like that.
Why did Disney choose another story I really don't know, anyone else know the book??

Yes, that's The Rescuers (1959) by Margery Sharp. Disney chose to rework the story and instead borrow from the book's first sequel, Miss Bianca (1962) because Margery Sharp's original novel did not work well on the screen.
