"The Journey" is not only my favorite song from this film, it is possible my favorite Disney song of all, and it meets with some tough competition along the way. The entire opening to this film is just beautiful in every sense of the word. The different paintings that make up the visual part are gorgeous and full of feeling, the dramatic camera movements aid the still paintings beautiful, and the song is just hauntingly gorgeous. It is unlikely that elements could work so good together to generate compassion for an inanimate object such as a bottle, but one can't help but feel for it as it struggles, lost in the sea and on an important mission.
The other two songs by Shelby Flint don't stay too far behind. "Tomorrow is Another Day" is light-hearted and cheerful, and it's reprise is the perfect closing for the film as the heroes fly off into a beautiful sunset. "Someone's Waiting for You" is also very beautiful, serving as a moving and touching lullaby. "Rescue Aid Society" generates different moods and feelings from its original version, as sung by the mice during the meeting, to the lovely guitar reprise when it serves in the background to remind Miss Bianca and Bernard about their important mission.
