Does anyone else see any similarities between Medusa and Carol Burnett as Miss Hannigan in "Annie"? They're both crazy, floozy women who mistreat orphans and have really bad style and are very selfish. It's funny Annie premiered on Broadway in April of 1977 and this movie opened in June of 1977.

Of course Burnett didn't play the role until the film which was released in 1982. I wonder if they were inspired by Medusa when they were doing the film especially since Burnett looks like a real life version of Medusa in the film.

I have always loved Medusa she is probably my all time favorite Disney villain, maybe tied with Mother Gothel from "Tangeled" And Miss Hannigan is one of my all time favorite Broadway characters. Maybe that's the reason I see the similarities :3

Yes, I've definitely noticed this. Also Penny is a lot like Little Orphan Annie, since, besides both being orphans, obviously, they are optimistic, spunky and capable of standing up to their abusive caretakers.

Not sure if Medusa was an inspiration for Carol Burnett's portrayal of Miss Hannigan. It could just be a coincidence that both the musical of "Annie" and "The Rescuers" premiered around the same time and had several character similarities...
