i want a live adaptation
directed by tim burton yes yes yes yes yes
shareA live-action version would certainly be intriguing. However, I don't think Burton would be the best choice to direct a remake to something like "The Rescuers"... Truth be told, I'm not exactly sure why he's doing "Dumbo"/how it'll turn out as a result...
Back to "The Rescuers" remake, who WOULD make a good director?
also wouldn't mind a live adaptation of the aristocats
shareI will have to vote no. Tim Burton goes as well with Margery Sharp as those behind the 1990 sequel. I don't think modern film-making would do the film, or the novels, justice so I prefer to leave it as it is. Just have Disney restore it properly once and for all.

Casting the perfect little girl as Penny would be very difficult. Michelle Stacy was the PERFECT find for her voice. See, little kid characters can go one of two ways: too obnoxious or too babyish and cutsey. Stacy managed to portray Penny as a real kid, because she was one herself and they told her to act naturally. She brought the perfect balance to the character. Penny wasn't obnoxious, and while she was adorable, she was not too cutsey or babyish.
Casting children is worlds more challenging than casting adults.
I'd like a live action version too :)
"My precious"-Gollum
But, again, the most difficult role to cast would be Penny. I would recommend Kyla Deaver (the youngest girl in The Conjuring), except she might be too old now.
Maybe they should just hire an unknown actress. A live action Rescuers film could be that said unknown actress's breakthrough.
Discord: "Wait a minute, where's my throne?"
Fluttershy: "I don't think you're quite there yet"
Probably. But again, Michelle Stacy left some PRETTY BIG shoes to fill.
shareAt very least if Disney remade "The Rescuers", it would HOPEFULLY give the original animated version more recognition. Afterall, current Disney execs seem to have next to NO respect whatsoever for this film or others of the time...
shareI'm worried they'd make it cute---which it's not supposed to be. The dark and grit of the film is why I like it.
shareThe Rescuers has an element of cuteness to it. I mean, come on, Penny is adorable, so are Rufus, Bernard, Bianca and Evinrude. The problem would be if they made Madame Medusa some brooding emo woman who thought she was good, or WAS good at one point but something happened to make her behave badly. She wasn't just bad for the sake of being bad.
But you are right, the dark and gritty atmosphere of this film, mixed with a few cute characters, is what makes it work.
And I will once again reiterate, casting Penny would be the hardest part.
....like they'd have snoops start singing about his 'job' helping Madame Medusa. Sorry, totally inappropriate.
