Sewing the Diamond into the Teddy

From the trivia section:

An original scene that never made it into the final film involved one in which Madame Medusa was sewing the Devil's Eye diamond into Teddy.

I very distinctly remember this scene as a kid. And I was waiting for it to come up while I was just watching the movie a few minutes ago for the first time in years.

Could it have been present in VHS copies in the early 90s & deleted from later releases?

Most likely your memory is a little blurry and is influenced by having seen the image of that scene. The scene was made part of a number of storybooks based on the film, particularly the one by Disney's Wonderful World of Reading (which features lovely illustrations, this being one of them).
