how does it compare to Tarantinos film

dude, i am intrigued by the premise. it's a damn good setup, interesting quest for the characters. from the main page:

Set in Europe during WWII, a group of American soldiers are in the process of being shipped off to military prison for a variety of infractions, ranging from desertion to murder. While they're being transported, a German artillery attack hits the convoy, killing the MPs and enabling four of the prisoners to escape. The group decides their best bet is to head to neutral Switzerland where they can avoid the fighting and prison. As they make their way to what they think will be freedom, they end up volunteering for a commando mission to steal a V2 warhead for the French Underground. Somehow, the team must sneak into the most heavily guarded base in German territory, steal the Nazi's most precious military hardware, and bring it back to the allies without getting arrested again by their own side.

yeah, that plot, on its own merits, has potential. i have never seen this one though. i wonder if i can get past the bad audio dubs.

but just the premise alone is good enough for me to see why tarantino was inspired by it, to do a spin off.

cant you just i picture quentin and his vid store buds hangiing arounf the cash register having fun and talking, replaying this one over and over. me and my buddies did the same thing at my store with some movies. we would replay them over and over and laugh at certain scenes.

I just don't get why Tarantino bothered to secure the rights just so he good have the title.

His version has no similarity - other than being in France during WWII.

There is an odd sort of connection, and it's in Part 1 of that film. The french woman helping the resistance in this film - Nicole) could easily be Shosanna Dreyfus in that film. Both their families have been wiped out by the Germans, and it's clear that she changes names when she needs to.

However, after watching the Interview on the DVD, it's clear that this was one of Tarantino's favourite films. It seems to me in a way that by using the same title it's like him writing Hamlet (again). Sort of. They are vastly different, but they are also total fantasies in their own way.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. But it is kind of tenuous. It was a good movie though.

i totally agree about the old threads

i have complained about that many times.

they say it is to save server space, but that is a lie. these plain graphic pages don't take up much room at all, compared to a time when so many other sites are storing huge HD video files. so what...IMDB has small servers? BUY MORE! that is cheap, and like i said, they are not even saving videos or other big files.

nah, storage is not the reason. that is propaganda, just to shut us up.

but i agree, many very cool things are lost due to auto deletes. also, it would keep a lot of people from reasking the same stuff over and over
