Don't forget that Fred Williamson and Ian Bannen also survive at the end of INGLORIOUS BASTARDS, since Williamson's character was supposed to be mortally wounded after being shot before he jumps off the train, but as Williamson said in the Inglorious Bastards featurette on the second DVD disc, it's against his creed to die in a film, so Fred convinced Castellari to have his character just wounded and smiling & saying goodbye to Bo Svenson after jumping off the train.While Bannen jumps off the train with the V2 gyroscope, just before the train crashes into the station. So in reality, there are 3 survivors in the climax of THE INGLORIOUS BASTARDS:Peter Horten, Fred Williamson & Ian Bannen.

Don't forget c**k-blocker to your list of descriptions for Tony. He never would've known about nor cared about Nicole if whimpy hadn't been smitten with her first and blabbed to everyone about it.

Williamson has a similar ending in Boss *beep* where he is supposedly mortally wounded but doesn't actually die.

But I agree its kind of cool to have Tony survive and get the girl. Its not an ending that many Hollywood films would have, but the nihilism of Italian filmmakers shine through. But than again, we don't know for sure whether he actually gets the girl. They just hug at the end, doesn't mean they're actually gonna marry.

I loved the ending of this film. The character who least deserves to live survives and gets the girl to boot! Talk about a subversive ending.
