Anyone else not like the ending?

I felt like that whole court case was just too rushed. I wanted to see their response to the answers God gave, I wanted to see that phoney fall to his knees begging for forgiveness, and maybe see a few more people get God's message...atleast see their reactions.

There is really no other possible ending except for everyone to make their own choice whether or not to believe. God gave them everything to decide for themselves. I like watching this movie every once in awhile.

There was a scene that had responses to the questions God answered. It seems to have been edited out of the present-day versions of this movie. I have no idea why.

I have been told that scene is on the DVD!

There was never any scene of the men reviewing the answers God gave.

The only thing I didn't like was the fact that Jerry's life was ruined and The Big Guy didn't help him at all. Jerry would have lots of trouble getting a job, for instance, or getting a lease or homeloan, etc.

If you were observing this nutty planet, would YOU want to make contact?

I agree

I can see how some wouldn't like that. But, I think the point was to be realistic---in terms of how God works. He doesn't guarantee happiness in this world, but a perfect life everlasting in the next, to those who believe in Him. I think the film is careful not to make God seem like a genie that just grants wishes, and that's why it ended that way.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

I disliked the ending too. It was sad because he lost his job and the music just seemed so sad, yet beautiful. I would've preferred it to have been a happier ending. It just seems kinda depressing.
