Another way to lead people to Hell

Movies like this one lead people to error about GOD. Especially the fact that Jesus Christ is our way to Salvation. But He is never mentioned in this movie set. It's amazing how people will use GOD to make entertainment lies for profit.

He was friggin' GOD! It was unnecessary to bring up Jesus.

I don't understand why some people insist on placing Jesus on a pedestal higher than God. Jesus is not the way. Jesus' way is the way. But believe what you want. I'm sure it'll work out for you.

Botany Bay? Bought on Ebay?!! Oh NO!!!

I remember watching this movie as a kid (a little after it came out) and thought it was a good movie. As an adult, I still find it enjoyable, especially how God desires a relationship with man (in this case Jerry) instead of a 'religious' dogma.

In reference to your comment about Jesus, I guess this movie maybe wasn't about the Judeo-Christian God (hence the line about Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha, etc.) otherwise, it would most definitely mentioned Jesus as being part of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit).

BTW, I like your 'Bought on Ebay' signature. lol!

reply

Or as God said, "Jesus was my son, Buddha was my son, Mohammed was my son, and you are my son." He also said he wasn't that big on religion. Personally, I think you missed the ENTIRE POINT of the movie.

reply

I wonder if he's proud of his son Mohammed.

reply

Silly fanatics. Hollywood actually makes a movie that's pro-God and you still bitch. I suppose the only religiously-themed movie that entertains your kind is something preachy and boring like God's Not Dead. Can't actually be entertaining 'cuz that's sinful.

Exactly.

Non-sequiturs are delicious.

Yes, I think you missed the point too. This is a movie about G-d... not religion; Hence the quote from George Burns' "G-d" where he says, "Jesus was my son, Buddha was my son, Mohammed was my son, and you are my sons."

I don't know where it is written that, "There are many paths to G-d, who is to say which is right?"

Personally, I believe that if you follow the Ten Commandments and The Golden Rule, the rest is details.

reply

I agree, the movie was about G-d, not religion.

Just curious, you said you believe if you follow the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, the rest is details. What happens if I follow the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule?

reply

If God was preached about in a way that was more akin to George Burns interpretation of him and not yours, the world would be a better place.

Another way to lead people to Hell

How exactly? 

reply

Because Jesus himself said he was the only way to God

reply

I get your point about him stating Jesus and Buddha and Mohammed were his sons --- the question should have been "Is Jesus Christ the Messiah ? When he was crucified did you really cause darkness and destroy the temple ---" that would have been a great question but you know it's a PC movie with a Jewish person playing the father --- can't expect a pro Christian message from non Christians --- you know ---

reply

Oh, God Novelist Avery Corman is Jewish.

Screenwriter Larry Gelbart was Jewish.

Director Carl Reiner is Jewish.

Producer Jerry Weintraub was Jewish.

And you're complaining that the movie isn't Christian enough?
