William Shatner's great... but Rack's character

What about bringing his new girlfriend around the the woman who WANTS to be his girlfriend seemed okay in his mind? Was he trying to get back at her for that line about his brother? Perhaps I'm being juvenile, and I love Shatner in everything he does because of this movie, but does anyone else think that was particularly cruel?

Personally, I think he was trying to play the two women off against each other to his own advantage.

Taking a 2nd look, I don't think Rack means to be cruel. He truly believes doesn't really love him, but loves the memory of his dead brother. He does not realize until he brings Diane over what his sister-in-law's feelings are for him.

Agreed with last post, he's not trying to be mean. He's just saying, hey, I'm not John and while I'll be there for u as a brother, I want my own woman! And this hot blonde scientist is just who I'm looking for.
