Was the film ever released in the theatre originally?

I cant find info to answer my question on wikipedia or imdb

Yes I believe so.Someone responded to one of my posts on here saying they remember seeing this film in theatres in 1977.

Yes it was. I remember all of the tv promos and the movie listings in the paper. I was around 8 or 9 when it came out.

I saw it second-run with SLITHIS in a theater.
