John Landis, Where Are You?

Let's face it folks, there hasn't been a great movie comedy for years.

I blame the popularity of the gross-out comedy (Farelly Bros, American Pie, Scary Movie Franchise etc). Though there's nothing wrong with the kick to the groin style of humour, unfortunately most movies rely too much on the one scene set up (penis in pie, semen in hair) to carry the movie.

This is where we need your help. Get John Landis back in the director's chair!

I know he hasn't done anything decent since Coming To America but the world needs his return.

John, we forgive you for Oscar, The Stupids and Blues Brothers 2000.

Give us another Kentucky Fried Movie, Animal House and Trading Places.

Come back Johhnny!

yeah, the gross-out stuff is lame. you may laugh, out of embarassment that anyone could put such idiocy in a film. you feel sorry for the script-writers, because it implies they think this is what people want to see and hear.

in one of those films, we are supposed to laugh when a young tooth-pick of a girl tells us after she got ****ed up the ****, she took a **** all over his chest. sorry about that -- even with the asterisks, that still sounds too vulgar. i think it is the same film where randy quaid is making jokes about sleeping with his underage daughter. tasteless, silly, and not funny. and the stuff from the first American Pie was downright nasty. I didn't waste my time with the sequels.

You're deriding raunchy and gross out comedy on a board for Kentucky Fried Movie?

Define irony.

Yes, Christopher. I don't remember any gross OR raunchy scenes in KFM. Okay, the shower scene is ... kind of nice, with her large mammary glands pressing against the glass. That is a nice scene. I also like all other nudity in this film. Some nice looking chicks for sure.

I guess the raunchiest scenes would be throwing pies at the chained-up guys' buttocks and "the truth about masturbation" from the catholic high school girls skit.

The others like dead family member and extracting oil from new resources are perhaps bad taste or offensive. Raunchy or gross-out is more like American Pie (you know the scene I'm talking about).

But I get your point about "define irony".

It really is quite ridiculous to make criticisms about the excess of raunchiness and toilet humor when talking in favor of KFM. While I get a kick out of the movie for it's extremely oddball and extremely unique style, it is most certainly one of the raunchiest movies I've ever seen..

Although I must say the way they did the nude scenes made it more funny or clever than just having a plain nude scene. Smashing the mammarie of the Catholic school girl against the glass in the shower makes it both erotic and funny as hell. If it was just raunchy they would have just shown the shower scene without that extra part. That and the Eyewitness news scene was more about the news than the nudity.

I really enjoyed American Pie, it was all that you said except for it really was funny. Also, the other whining that you did was in regards to Not Another Teen Movie. Yes that was disgusting, but it was meant to be over the top disgusting as it was spoofing Cruel Intentions.

How can people who enjoyed KFM enough to come to this spot and put down a comment about it be so tightly wound up that you would not get the humor in a spoof movie and get all moral on us?
