DEFECTIVE DISCS

I bought a used disc ANCHOR BAY #11117 which played fine on my computer. Then I loaned it to someone and when I got it back it wouldn't play on my computer or my PANASONIC player. The guy borrowing it said it didn't pay on his either. Since then I've come across two other copies and none of them play right on any of my stuff. I'm wondering if all three of the used pawnshop copies were there because of this. Any help people?

Gee, this sounds like a curse on you. I played my dvd of this movie yesterday and it played perfectly. I bought it at Best Buy, you should go there and grab a copy.

Check this out. I purchased this film on DVD when it was first released. It played perfectly. Several months later, I decided to view it again. It would not play in any of my 4 DVD players (portable, computer, etc.). This is the second Anchor Bay release I've had do this. I bought the film "Vamp" brand new and it did the same thing.

But, to Anchor Bay's credit, they replaced the discs, no questions asked. And was prompt in sending a replacement.

There are definitely some defective (Region 1) Kentucky Fried Movie DVDs out there. A few years ago I bought a copy off a guy on eBay, it was new, and the damn thing wouldn't play (I'm in Australia, but my DVD player is multiregional). I tried it on a few different players, but still nothing. Fortunately, the seller refunded me after I sent the disc back to him.

I had to settle for a Region 4 copy, which unfortunately doesn't have the Landis/ZAZ commentary. But to answer your question...I think the batch is tainted.

Same thing happened to my buddy...got it for him for christmas and it wouldn't even read in his player about a year later...

which sucks because it was so hard to find to begin with...

Just send it back to Anchor Bay. They'll hook you up like they did me.

This is the appropriate place to go for the disc replacement.

Good luck. I am on my replacement copy and it has worked fine for 3 years.

Thanks for the link. I have a defective disc also. It won't play on any of my three DVD players. I hate when that happens.
