what a *beep* film

This is the single most unfunny film I have ever seen . Sketch after sketch of meaningless dross , leaving me and friends bemused and angry . *beep* off is this worth 6 out of 10 , it is *beep*.

Life's too short to be pissed off all the time.

I agree with you! Everytime I see the Kentucky Fried Movie, I bust into hysterical laughter. It is indeed a comedy that was made for a certain state of mind. People that are too serious with their life hate this movie. I appreciate this film so much that I'm dissappointed in most other "so-called" comedies. For example, my buddies told me that Anger Management was hilarious, so I decided to go see it for myself. After I watched it, I was like, "That was retarded...". There were no real scenes that made me laugh in Anger Management, and the comedy was serious and dry. Well, it's nothing more than you can expect from Adam Sandler; one who uses profanity as his only sense of humor. Nuff said. You'll find multiple senses of humor in the Kentucky Friend Movie. It goes from parodies of commercials to movie previews, and if you enjoy Mystery Science Theater 3000 or Monty Python, you'll most likely find the Kentucky Friend Movie as one of your favorites.

Check out Amazon Women on the Moon, the sequel.

I'd have to disagree there. Monty Python and MST3K are beyond funny but KFM was sh*t.

Personally, I thought it was funny that you have a quote at the end about not being pissed off, and then you posted an entire message that made you sound like you were pretty angry....

I thought this movie was funny, but it seems to get even funnier with repeat viewings.

reply

The film is uneven, but it sure has its moments. Anyone who grew up watching Enter The Dragon will split his sides at the sight of that fight scene where the Bolo Yeung stand-in drops an automatic transmission on him. Why get so worked up about it? It's only a movie, and it's not like they deceived anyone by promoting it as anything but the slapstick that it is!

reply

Right! it was very uneven!! Funny parts wrapped with skits that seemed to be one of those "production videos" made for americas funniest videos

reply

Yeah, I like John Landis and the Zuckers other work, but this
one seemed to think it was a lot funnier than it really was.
I actually turned off the damn movie halfway through cause it
gave me a headache. The TnA was great, though.

reply

funny as hell with the transmission thing. I remember now.

reply

Ah, finally some references to the automatic transmission scene. That kills me every time. As far as people not liking it, I completely understand. It's a goofball movie that is definitely hit or miss depending on the individual's personal likes and dislikes.

reply

I don't get it... THIS MOVIE IS JUST SIMPLE GOOD OLDFASHION FUN!

reply

Is this considered "Midwestern" humor? It's still funny anyway.

reply

I got this the other day and have to admit I wasn't that impressed with it. It has a few moments, but I think its a tad too dated for the younger generation to enjoy.

"Well, I bashed you. That was good, wasn't it? It was good for a bit of a giggle, anyway."

reply

This movie is dated and that's all there is to it. All the sketches are in reaction to sentiments and events of the time in which it was created. At that time sketch comedy was new and SNL was in it's peak. I mean the same comments can be made about SNL's early episodes. You have to understand that comedy has changed and so has our approach to satire. If you can take yourself out of the mind-set of today and simply view the movie as an original and fun film you might find it more entertaining, but that's hard to do. So maybe you should just get really high!

The movie is hilarious. The posts in this thread show that it takes brains to appreciate good humor, and none to bash it.

i completely split my sides at the enter the dragon rip off in kentucky fried movie, i found it hilarious!! i definately agree it is dated, but i still find it very funny, i am also from the younger generation. It gets slightly boring at some parts, but the more i watch it, the more i appreciate it

reply

I myself found it rather unfunny as well.

Being a fan of Airplane, Amazon Women on the Moon, and Naked Gun, I couldn't wait to pop this in and give it a viewing. I was bored out of my damn mind. (And no it's not due to me being a teenager, I am 32)

I think the reason it gets such high regard is because it was the 1st film of it's kind. Nothing more.

Can you name any recent comedy that is as funny now, as Kentucky Fried Movie was then?

As a matter of fact, i can't name a recent comedy that is as funny now, as KFM is now!

Movies like "Borat" may give me the occasional grin, but that's about it.
And i'm still wondering what the hell was so funny about "There's something about Mary".

reply

Nothing says dated than a movie full of nudity-related and politically incorrect comedy, eh?

Yeah, we've really progressed when movies like "The Hangover" are considered raunchy, and the idea of political incorrectness is something that KFM would blow out of the water.

If anything proves comedy has actually regressed into being puss*fied, it's comparing KFM with "modern" comedy.

reply

Finally, someone who hates the film. It doesn't deserve all the praise it gets. It is unfunny sh!t. 2/10 for me .

Well, I think you're WRONG. But hey! I just love it!

reply

Some people probably considered it unfunny even when it came out, but it REALLY helps if you're familiar with '70 trends, morals, issues, etc.
