A Fistful of Yen

I don't know why so many people seem to dislike this sketch. I thought it was great. Best parts were the looks on Loo's face in response to "Ah, but you'll have the chance to kill 50 maybe 60 people", when the second wave of guys runs up on him while he waits for the elevator, and when Butkus gets up for the second time. Those and the contestants names "Hung Well", Long Wang", and "Enormous Genetals".

Always remember: You can't spell slaughter without laughter!

I agree. Not every joke in FoY works but there are plenty of great laughs. I particularly like when what is obviously New York is identified as Hong Kong and the sight of Loo's traveling party walking through the jungle carrying their Samsonite luggage.

In Mexico senor, these are the years of sadness.

It's easily my favourite bit from the movie, and frankly, it's forever changed how I watch "Enter the Dragon." Ever catch the little nod to Loo's mouthed "WTF" that Wesley Snipes did in "Blade?"

I've stole the following line so many times and nobody gets it unfortunately. But an example would be, "That was a skit of... extra-ordinary magnitude".

reply

Dislike? Are you kidding? I think that was the best part of the movie. Best kung fu-parody ever made.

reply

I agree it's the best King fu parody ever!

I wonder what happened to the actor who played Bruce?

reply

This was a funny part of the film. Seemed a bit long, but still good. Probably could've been it's own feature-length spoof if more was added to it.

I'm in the "not a fan" camp when it comes to FOY. It's got its moments, but it is WAY too long. I would've much rather seen 4-5 more smaller sketches, and you STILL could have fit this in in an abbreviated format. It's like they didn't have enough sketches to fill out a full movie - and it's a really short film even with the filler.

reply

I was under the impression that it was the most popular part of the movie...

"Namu-myoho-renge-kyo"

You think it seemed a bit too long, yet you say it could have been a feature-length if more was added to it??

reply

I think the problem is that to fully appreciate it you need to also have a love for "Enter the Dragon". Kids who have been denied the pleasure of seeing "Enter the Dragon" because they have been brainwashed by TV programmers into believing that films over 2 years old aren't worth watching, and women like my wife who generally avoid action films, just will never get it.

reply

Sounds like you're harboring resentment toward your wife. I wonder if 4 years later you're still with her?

reply

LOL Don't try to get a job as a psychiatrist. Not many people base marriages on something as petty as whether or not their spouse will get the jokes in "A Fistful of Yen" because they have or have not watched "Enter the Dragon".

" Rough.. and Toothless " cracks me up every time !
