SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY explained at last!

Man, the things you learn listening to National Public Radio! They were doing a piece on feminine-oriented obscenities. In specific a word that, as the narrator put it, "begins with 'C' and rhymes with 'stunt'."
The narrator brought up appearances of the word all over the place, from Shakespeare to modern puns.
And then he mentioned "See You Next Tuesday"!

CEE U N(ext) T(uesday)

Geez.
I haven't felt like this since I heard the book title "BORIS GOODENOV".....

Is the film title "See You Next TUESDAY" or See You Next WEDNESDAY"?

reply

That would work, but Landis' recurring title is "See you Next Wednesday" (CUNW?)

"See you next Wednesday" is what one of the astronauts says in "2001: A Space Odyessy" before disaster strikes. For some reason, Landis liked that line and he has it in most of his stuff.

Known this one for a while. Maybe See You Next Wednesday is a sort of "user friendly" version of SYNT so people can say something similar which means the same but doesn't get them reprimanded.

I got my "See you next Tuesday" explaination from Sex and The City LOL.
That's funny about the "See You Next Wednesday" because I haven't heard that in years. I remember when watching his films as a kid my mom would pick that out all the time. I say about that to some people and they look at me like I'm crazy. I'm glad there's some people who know what I'm talking about.

"In dreams we enter a world that's entirely our own."

"SEE YOU NEXT WEDNSDAY" IS FEATURED ALL OVER LANDIS'S PRODUCTIONS...THE PORN FLICK IN "AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON" AND "MJ'S THRILLER"-OUTSIDE OF THE CINEMA"

LANDIS IS A FUNNY GENIUS!!

Landis puts in "See You Next Wednesday" in all his films...cos it was a student film he made MANY years ago.

I know it's a line in 2001...but that is NOT the reason Landis puts it in his films.

He put's the phrase "See you next Wednesday" in his films...COS IT'S THE TITLE OF A FILM HE MADE AS A STUDENT.

Why would he put in a random line from a film he has NOTHING to do with?
He may aswell had used "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" from Gone With The Wind...cos that is a random line in a film he had NOTHING to do with.

Or maybe he uses the line "See you next Wednesday" cos it was the title of a film he made in his younger days.

Imagine there's no heaven.

Landis has said that he originally got the line from 2001, which is one of his favourite films.

Actually, Frank Poole's parents say it to him on a video message when they wish him happy birthday. It's a really hard line to spot.
