I thought the acting was better in this one. In the new one Curtis plays her character as a dumb adult and Lohan plays hers as an overly mature teenager, but they don't really act like they switched places. In this one I did get the feeling that the mother became a teenager and the teenager became an adult.

Yes, I used to get the two mixed up. I would have been just as likely to say Madeline Kahn if you had asked me who played the mom. When Madeline Kahn died, I was thinking she was the mom on "Freaky Friday".

yeah some people say the remake is better but I think the acting in the original by the two female leads is much better. Jodie Foster's acting is 10,000 times better than Lindsay Lohan's in the remake. Lohan was so not convincing when she was trying to act mature but Foster really was.
