this film is so good and enjoyable. it is the first and classic version of freaky friday as a film, and really works well against the book. i haven't seen any of the remakes because i feel that this film is so good that any attempts to remake it would be pointless-why try to improve on something that is already perfect? please correct if i'm wrong and tell me if it's worth my time to see the remake... thanks!

I actually enjoyed the remake very much, and Freaky Friday was a favorite childhood book and movie. It is different (and modernized) enough so that it works as a fun movie that you don't have to compare to the original. Jamie Lee Curtis does a great job of acting like a teenager.
When the Parent Trap was remade a few years back I was reluctant to see that movie, but it also turned out to be charming and entertaining. I guess you have to see each remake and judge it on it's own merritts.
I love the first one it had foster in it (my fave actress) AND HAD A ACID TRIPPY FEEL TO IT ,but the remake aint bad either lohan shows she has comic talents and curtis is a hoot as the mom.They both stand as good films even though the first film is a classic cus it was the first of many body switching filcks in the 80's and has real heart.
This movie was made in the '70s not '80s. I also like the remake too.
It would be so nice if something would make sense for a change.

I think the reason they remade it was because women's roles have changed a lot since the 70's. There are more career-oriented women and fewer stay at home moms. So they updated it because the original version was a little outdated in the role of the mom.

The simple reason they made a remake is for quick money. Main plotline was already there all they had to do was build on it slightly which equalled quick money.
