'Old school' Christmas on HBO

Ah, the early 80s, Christmastime and HBO. Besides our dear Emmet Otter, there were many other Christmas/holiday gems. Does anyone else remember:

1. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever - During Christmas 1985 (I was in 8th Grade) HBO would show this in the early morning. I would watch as I got ready for school.

2. Red Skelton's Christmas Dinner - About Red's famous character "Freddie the Freeloader" who came into some money. Freddie was going to use the dough to treat himself and his friend, The Professor (Vincent Price!) to a fancy dinner in a snazzy restaurant. Freddie winds up giving the money away throughout the day.

3. Rich Little's Christmas Carol - This was AWESOME!! Celebrity impersonator Rich Little stars as Scrooge (W.C. Fields), Bob Cratchitt (Paul Lynde), Mrs. Cratchitt (Edith Bunker), etc., etc. I am DYING to see this again.

4. A Christmas Story - I saw it first on HBO during Christmas 1985.

5. Snow White Live- I believe it was performed at Radio City Music Hall or something. HBO would show it during Christmas (and/or Halloween).

6. March of the Wooden Soldiers/Babes in Toyland (Laurel & Hardy) - HBO used to air this film during Thanksgiving and Christmas way back when.

Anyone remember any others?

I remember all of that and the OLD USA network that would air the 1973 version of A Miracle of 34 street or the Mr. Magoo Christmas Carol

Or when TNT and TBS showed more holiday stuff before NBC bought It's a Wonderful Life...I love being able to come home and it would be on some channel

I've never seen the 1973 version of Miracle on 34th. I'm going to see if Blockbuster.com carries it.

I LOVE the Mr. Magoo Christmas Carol! I own it on both VHS and DVD and we watch it over and over again throughout the holidays.

Yeah ... other people would bitch about IAWL always being on every channel, but I love it. You never knew where and when it would show up!!

Don't forget about Ziggy when he was the street corner Santa and he got arrested for freeing all the turkeys.

Not to mention the "Bearenstein Bears Christmas Tree."
