What are the chances of that happening? I've got the movie on Laserdisc, and while it's pretty good, it wouldn't compare to a properly remastered Bluray release. Ridley could probably make it happen if he wanted to, unless the rights are screwed up somewhere. This movie begs for the treatment Ridley gave to 'Blade Runner'. Make it happen, Rid!
Indeed! This is one of the titles I'd be bothered to order on Blu-ray, as it can take repeated viewings. Quite a gem of a movie, not too many movies are this good this many years later.
Not really. A guy from Shout! Factory says they haven't finished the supplemental features, yet.
Shout! Factory is on an absolute roll right now. They are now what the old Anchor Bay used to be. Anchor Bay sucks, now.
Not only has Shout! been releasing the Roger Corman line of old Drive-In flicks for the past couple of years, as well as curiosities such as "Johnny Got His Gun" and Robert Altman's "Streamers", as well as the long-unavailable John Carpenter-directed mini-series "Elvis" starring Kurt Russell, but this year alone, they released the entire classic "Walking Tall" trilogy on blu-ray, "The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With the Sea" on blu ray, Abel Ferrara's "Fear City" on blu ray, and now have Bertrand Tavernier's "Death Watch" (starring Harvey Keitel, Romy Schneider, Harry Dean Stanton, and Max von Sydow) coming out on Tuesday, August 28th, they launch their new "Scream! Factory" line next month, with blu rays of "Halloween II" and "Halloween III" (followed by releases of "The Funhouse" and "Terror Train" the next month), and finally, they will release blu rays of John Carpenter's "They Live!", Jane Campion's "The Portrait of a Lady" (with Nicole Kidman, John Malkovich, and Barbara Hershey), and Ridley Scott's "The Duellists" (with Keitel and Keith Carradine).
They are seriously becoming a little Criterion, here.
Blu-Ray release has been moved back - new date is January 2013. Glad to hear it's because of the supplemental features, because in all the posts about this release, you can't tell if any extras at all are going to be included. Sounds like this one is going to be pretty complete. Can't wait.
