Blu-ray review for 'The Duellists'

"The Duellists" is an assured directorial debut by a man who would go on to become a legendary filmmaker. Though there’s a bit of room for improvement on the audio/visual side, this Blu-ray from Shout! Factory is a definite upgrade over any previous edition. It’s also a very worthy introduction for anybody who hasn’t experienced this under-seen gem from the ‘70s.

I have 3 copies of this film: tape, DVD and now Blu-ray.

Each has been a spectacular improvement on what went before, though the difference between tape and DVD was bigger than that between DVD and Blu-ray.

highly recommended for fans of this fine film.

Available in Region A only at the moment.

Busted!

To be honest, whenever I do a Blu-ray review I write down the technical specs listed on the case in my notes before I watch the movie.(The Blu-ray lists this as 2.35:1.) When I watched "The Duellists", I noticed that it was in 1.78:1, but I forgot to change it before I posted my review.

Thanks for the catch (and for the snarkiness) because you've just inspired me to be more careful about this stuff in the future. (It's fixed in my article too.)
