Accents

I am often quite resolute about American actors not altering their accents for period pieces. I think maybe four mins into season of the witch with nick cage and I was sick of it ( not that I was expecting much).
But this film doesn't bother me in the slightest, in fact I wouldn't have it any other way. I have voted this film 10*, I just can't quite come to terms with how much I enjoyed this film.
Outside of this I quite like Keitel, I find him to be a quite consistent actor. As far as Carradine, well the only other film I've seen him in was Southern Comfort, which I thought he was quite good in.
But in the Duellists I thought both actors delivered capable performances way outside of their comfort zones.
Is anyone else not really bothered by their accents?

did you ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?

reply

For either of these American actors to attempt French accents, would have likely been unsuccessful and made a very good film, simply ridiculous.

reply

Haha, yes it would have been like an episode of Allo'Allo'
