This movie has been one of my all-time favorites, and have watched it a dozen times. I owned it in VHS and when the DVD came out I got it. However, it was not until I read Conrad's story that I really got to understand many of the fine points.

I actually own a copy of the 1977 novelisation of the movie by whoever it was - Gerard Wynne-Jones, not the screenwriter, but a similar name, but its great to see the original story as well!
I first came across the Duellists as it inspired a track by Iron Maiden on their 1984 album Powerslave, and then rented the VHS and loved it. Steve Harris made quite a few songs inspired by movies or books, but this is probably the best one. And the best movie he referred to!
I hope I'll see more of the finer points too - unless they are all in the novelisation already?
