That Intro: Very Dated

British-accented, oddly-cut, gunshot sound effects, with "flashy" graphic design ("Assassination" in 4 languages).

And it's completely extraneous to the movie.

You didn't need an introduction to the main character, the plot, or an explanation to the movie's title. We can figure that out. "ASSASSINATION." Got it.

It was so over-the-top it could play as a Monty Python sketch.

As for the movie itself it had the quality and production value of a TV movie from the '70s, notwithstanding Gene Hackman's unsuccessful attempts to redeem it. It looks like a "Cannon" episode.

I agree with it looking like a 70s TV episode with bad lighting. The intro is so overwrought it's funny! And then it's followed by a mellow singer/songwriter song - just what you would associate tough inmate Gene Hackman with!

I’m five years too late but your comments were spot on accurate. That info was silly and the movie really did have the appearance of a Streets of San Francisco episode
