Dean Koontz wrote two different versions of DEMON SEED

Prolific science fiction horror author, Dean Koontz, wrote two versions of DEMONS SEED, of which the movie was more or less based on the first version.
I have a copy of the original paperback, written in 1973. The book's content is very adult-oriented. I won't go into details here.

Dean Koontz later revised DEMON SEED, circa 1996 or 1998, in which he wrote essentially a PG-13 revision. I'm not sure what his intent or purpose was in greatly taming down his original manuscript. I actually his original manuscript to be superior to the 1998 revision.

I'm sure a re-make of DEMON SEED is possible. But I would prefer that the original book be followed, not the 1998 revision.

I would love to see Dean Koontz' sci-fi horror paperback, NIGHT EYES, made into a movie. Koontz' is adroit at combining science fiction and horror seamlessly in one book.

I just finished Reading the revised book and gotta say I really enjoyed it. Havnt read the original but will if i can find a copy. The film scared the *beep* out of me as a kid, a remake could be a great idea as long as they keep it close to the original. Not read night eyes but reckon that may well be next on my Reading list!
your opinion is the wrong one!

Be warned. The original book is much better, but frequently pornographic in what Proteus does to Julie throughout her captivity. I suspect Dean Kootnz may have later felt guilty and rewrote a PG version. The original book is definitely NC-17 in my opinion. But it's more thrilling to read.
