Remake, shemake...I want a sequel

I would love to see what happens after the credits start to roll. That to me would make a great movie. The movie studio that owns this property (I would assume Warner...) needs to get moving. Robert Vaughn isn't getting any younger!
And somehow both Julie Christie and Fritz Weaver are still alive and kicking, so if there is going to be any connection to the original (son of Proteus IV would be a little over 30 years old in the sequel), it could be made with the original cast in their original roles.

Dean R. Koontz could write it for the screen since he's alive as well.

awesome idea!

i just wrote this down as something to potentially do in a computer game. 8)

not like a whole game based around that, but having a story based around that idea, being part of the "lore" of the game.

The child was actually female. So I guess you could cast Jolie or Theron

I could see a 'stealth sequel' like Split. You wouldn't know it was a sequel to DS until the final scene or end credit scene of a Julie Christie cameo..(then it would be all over SM ..oh wow that new horror movie is actually a sequel to DS)
