Movement in the water?

After the first diving scene you see Gail and Dave climb aboard there boat. There facing the camera and behind them you see an awefull lot of movement in the water.

First time I saw this movie I thought it was supposed to be like the underwatermonster that almost drowned Gail was making those waves. But later in the film we learn it must have been the eel that almost got her, and that never could have made those waves...

I found those waves quite scary the first time and was really hoping one of them would see them in time to get away. Now that I see this movie again I just don't get the meaning of it?

Umm...when you are in that deep of water, there is of course going to be currents and such causing movement...it's called nature.

I spent the first twenty years of my life on a ship. The movements you see in the water are caused by something close to the surface. Didn't you notice that however the waves moved they stayed in one place, almost in a circling kind of movement?

The movement is from a sunken boom that holds the explosives for the end scene. The explosion is seen from another viewpoint.
Hope this explains it.
