Hypothetical remake

I enjoyed the book a great deal; a quick and fun summer read. If they were to remake it, as Hollywood seems to be doing a lot of lately, who would be a great cast and director? Any thoughts?

They did, sad as it is, with the film "Into The Blue." Bad movie, bad cast (bar maybe Josh Brolin) BAD IDEA!

The Deep will always be great!

Into The Blue: Yeah, not officially one, but def. loosely based on The Deep.

But if I could see a remake of The deep:

Director - Ridley Scott or Christopher Nolan or James Cameron or Ang Lee or Luc Besson. Maybe Ridley's my first choice (all these directors have done good and dodgy stuff)

Treece - Morgan Freeman (the villain could be 'pink' this time; all kinds of people live in the Caribbean). But if white: Mickey Rourke

Gail - Jessica Biel (she holds well in various genres, including action/thriller) or Marion Cotillard or Salma Hayek

David - Not sure but e.g. Brad Pitt/Kiefer Sutherland/Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost)

Henri - Ben Kingsley
or Samuel Jackson (if Treece is white or other)
