Landmaster on TV

I seem to remember a TV show back in the 70's that featured the Landmaster. Did they ever reuse it on a TV show, perhaps Ark II? Of course I was only a little kid, so this is a vague memory at best.

I have the same faint memory.

I believe you are right.

You're thinking of "Ark II"

reply

Oh kool! That's coming to DVD soon, I'll have to watch it. Thanks!

The Ark II (1976) vehicle was NOT recycled as Landmaster for Damnation Alley (1977).
The Ark was a Fiberglass Shell on what was a Garbage truck, built by the Brubaker Group and was recycled some time later for Space Academy as the Seeker spacecraft.

Landmaster was built by Dean Jefferies from Sheetmetal and Aluminum..
(Wikipedia lists Jefferies as the builder of both vehicles.. Is is innacurate)

The two vehicles do have superficial similarities.

I recall Ark II from my childhood & am pleased to find out that it will be released on DVD so that I can share it with my son. :)

There was also a commercial for an oil company which featured a character called "The Road Worrier". He was driving around in the Landmaster, worrying about the proper oil for his vehicle.

I think it was also used in an episode of Chris Elliott's Get A Life called "Paperboy 2000."

The commercial was for Amoco - used to show a lot during the early days of MTV. More about the Landmaster here: http://www.answers.com/topic/landmaster
