Why are the returnees only Americans?

Was the ship returning people by country of origin?

Every man has two nations, one of them is France. (B. Franklin)

reply

You could see silhouettes of some of the returnees in what seemed to be foreign costumes.

reply

Your answer made me crack up. Please tell me you meant to be funny. I thought of It's a SMall World outfits.

reply

They might have dropped off the other returnees in their own countries. Of course, then again, judging by their placement of a ship in the middle of the Mongolian desert, they didn't seem all that concerned about putting stuff back where they found it. I suppose we could just chalk it up to Hollywood's Americentrism.

reply

Well the whole movie is about them landing in America. If they landed somewhere else... it would be a different movie.

reply

Go rent the Russian ripoff of this, близкие контакты третьего рода. They land in Lower Siberia in that one and return tons of Russians.

reply

And seeing as they were all americans, why wasnt Glenn Miller returned?

reply

Uhhh...because Glenn Miller disappeared over the English Channel and not the Bermuda Triangle like Flight 19 and the USS Cyclops?

reply

ah, so he'll be in the euoropean dropoff then ?

reply

For all we know...Glenn and his band were there.

But they didn’t get permission to use his name.

If you remember the airmen who gave their names, ranks and serial numbers...they were intended to be crew from Flight 19...but none of the f*cking names they gave were of the crew.

First idiot to speak gave his name as Frank Taylor, Lieutenant J.G. United States Naval Reserve, 064199.

There was no such f*cking person.

Flight leader was CHARLES CARROLL TAYLOR.

The 2nd idiot said his name was Harry Ward Craig, Captain United States Navy, 043431. No such f*cking name was from Flight 19.

Not to mention the only CAPTAINS on Flight 19 were MARINES- EJ Powers and George W. Stivers.

Yet the crew at Devil’s Tower said they were Flight 19. Disappeared off Chicken Shoals, December 1945.

Same goes for the 3rd idiot...er...airman who gave his name as Matthew McMichael, Lieutenant, United States Naval Reserve 0909411. No such person.

Doesn’t look like they had permission to use the actual names.

reply

Most of the time film makers wouldn't even bother to ask permission and mask the true identities just well enough to not get sued.
