Was the song "Life is Looking Good" written on purpose to sound like the 1812 overture at the start of the film?
I never thought about it, and I don't have an answer, but that's really a good question.
shareDamn, I think you're right. I always liked the song, but also thought the melody was a bit...odd. So I just watched it and hummed the 1812 Overture during the chorus of the song, and it seems to match up quite well, seemingly too well for it to be a coincidence. Great catch.

My guess is that it's just a coincidence. But "Life is Looking Good" is an infectious song and had it been done by my fellow Hoosiers the Jackson 5, man, it would have been huge. It's the kind of song the routinely took high on the charts back in the good old days.
