Timmy Lupus broken leg?
Was his leg really broken?
shareI don't understand why they really didn't include him in that movie and he was totally gone in the last one even though he agreed to go to Japan when asked by Tanner. Tanner, of course, was also a no show.
sharePart of one of the sub-plots of the film was Lupus and Tanner's friendship. Tanner's motivation in this film is to *win one for the Looper*. This is further solidified by the scene at the first hotel where Tanner is writing a letter to Lupus and in the background on the tv set you can hear the famous *win one for the Gipper* speach from the Ronald Reagan movie Knute Rockne All American.
shareI could never understand why Tanner was so close to Lupus in "Breaking Training" after treating him like a "booger eating moron" in the original.
He who conquers himself is mightier than he who conquers a city.
A few years ago I sold Quinn Smith aka Timmy an original movie script and took the oportunity to ask him a few questions, one being this message topic. He said that he really did have an injury to his leg but they wanted to write him into the story being that he was a big part of the original.
shareInteresting. What else did you ask him?
I have a new philosophy. I'm only going to dread one day at a time.
What is he like today.
I'm a Cinemajunkie !

Tanner started warming up to Lupus in the first film- otherwise he wouldn't have gotten into the fight with Joey(Brandon Cruz) at the food stand.
And it's not at all uncommon for kids to hate each other one year, then like each other the next. Heck, there was a kid who I always got in fights with in Elementary School, yet the first year in Junior High we became good friends.
I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.share
Yeah, that was common enough to fight someone, only to become a buddy after a short time. I saw it that Tanner stood up for Lupus out of a natural defense for his teammate, mixed in with never needing a reason to brawl and simply hating the Yankees. I'm from Boston, so saying you're a Yankees fan will get you some heat ranging from road rage to a broken jaw. I don't take it as seriously (beating them in '04 helped), but some loyalists will bring it to a different level.
It was easy to write off the injury as a skateboarding accident as just about everyone under the sun was riding back then due to Dogtown and Z-boys.

Tanner felt guilty because he broke Lupus' leg.
