Why the fake Engeldberg?

I'm sure somewhere on this board this has been discussed but I'm too lazy to find it so it's on TV right now and I can't help but wonder what the hell happened to the original Engleberg!!

The original actor lost a ton of weight and grew a few inches, so they needed a new guy. As a kid in '77, I didn't notice as both seemed fine for the role.

I don't understand. You said the original Engelberg lost a ton of weight and grew, so where did you see him? The Engelberg in the sequel was supposed to look like the kid in the first film so it seems obvious by your answer that they could not use him anymore. Why do you feel he seemed fine for the sequel?

I was saying my 10 year old brain didn't recognize the difference between the two actors. As for the rest of the team, I took it as they grew a few inches between seasons - as kids do.
