Well..... remember that he was a cook and cooks in the military are very different from regular soldiers. They're borderline civilians working for the government.

I am guessing he would manage well in doing his enlistment term. For the most part, you just have to get used to waking up early in the mornings especially if you are not a morning type person. But Jack was pretty cool too!
