Was there ever a different opening titles sequence?

Yes, I know the version with the silhouette of a woman dancing, over a background of flames, during the begining titles.

For some reason I have a memory of an opening titles sequence with a carousel like you might find in a carnival, with horses going up and down and you would ride on. I remember the titles featured this carousel going around with close-ups on the horses faces while the music played. Very creepy.

Anyone else remember this? Can anyone tell me what this was from? Did the title sequence change at all at any time during the 1979-1988 run of the show? What about during John Houseman's run as presenter?

Thanks.

I also remember the carousel beginning. I am looking for old episodes of that particular show.

Could the one with the carousel be the TOTU that was titled "Twist In the Tale" in the UK? Does anyone know? Can anyone give more differences of the two? Thanks! :)

The dancing woman and flames does sound familiar, but I don't really remember it, but do remember the carousel sequence. They also used it for the closing titles.

I wonder if a different sequence was used for earlier or later seasons of the series, or if a different opening was used in other markets. I live in the U.S.A. and that's where I saw the series. I wonder if a different opening sequence was used when the program was syndicated to TV stations in the U.S.A. or other countries. That's not an unusual practice.

The series only aired for a short time in the city I was living in(New Orleans), then disappeared. One night in the latter half of the 1980s, I was channel surfing at around 1:30AM and some skip must have been coming in as I caught at episode on a channel(UHF channel 14) that was vacant in my area. After watching for a few minutes, I found I was watching a station in Monroe, LA. which I think used the call KARD(http://www.kard.com), which a web search has indicated is still their callsign. I didn't see the beginning sequence, but I did see the closing sequence, which used the carousel. Perhaps someone who was living in or near Monroe, LA could at the time(probably around 1988) could shed some light on this.

I also remember the roulette spinning and playing cards in the opening titles.
