The Best Of Them All....

Well, I finally got through every series of TOTU and decided to make a list of all the episodes I thought were pretty damn good. There are probably more in this list than anyone else can admit to liking but I've put them into categories. I like really dark humour and twists. There aren't many absolutely terrific episodes but here's my list :)

REALLY DARK EPISODES
(Loved these for their macabre twists at the end that actually left you with a shiver going down your spine)

Skin (Roald Dahl at his best by leaving the ending to your imagination)
The Landlady (Terrifying)
Royal Jelly (The concept isn't too scary but the ending to this episode...)
The Flypaper (Creepy. Relevant too. Should be shown to school kids)
A Man With A Fortune (The ending to this episode gave me goosebumps :))
A Harmless Vanity (A nice unexpected twist)
The Best Of Everything (more amusing than creepy but still really dark)

AMUSING KARMA EPISODES (Where what goes around comes around :)
A Passing Opportunity
A Time To Die
Sauce For The Goose
The Last Bottle In The World
Pattern Of Guilt
Mrs Bixby & The Colonels Coat
In The Cards (Sadly the Tales From The Crypt version of this is better)
Fat Chance
Taste (Great little story, Richard Pratt aptly named for being so unlikeable)
Umbrella Man
Back For Christmas
The Orderly World Of Mr Appleby
Parson's Pleasure (A rogue antiques dealer gets his comeuppance)
The Gift Of Beauty
I'll Be Seeing You
Vicious Circle (Amusing twist)
Stranger In Town (Amusing episode with Derek Jacobi)
A Woman's Help
Shatterproof
Clerical Error
Kindly Dig Your Grave
There's One Born Every Minute
Blue Marigold
Death Can Add (This is a good one, also has an amusing twist)
The Memory Man
The Absence Of Emily
Vengeance Is Mine Inc

OTHER GOOD EPISODES
The Moles (amusing twist)
In The Bag (Arrogance ends up being the safecracker's downfall)
The Luncheon (Great little 'that's life' tale)
Proxy (very clever story with an amusing twist)
The Verger
Mr Know All (Not an amazing episode but it's quite poignant at the end)
Galloping Foxley
A Dip In The Pool
Bosom Friends (We all know people who have never paid for anything ever)
The Way To Do It
Man from the south (One of Dahl's best tales)
Operation Safecrack

There were a few others I liked, like the one with Charles Dance but after watching it more than once I actually hate it. Twist wasn't that amazing either.

Ouch. You have left out one of my all time favourites called 'Light Fingers'.
I am hoping you have not seen this one, because it is omitted from your list.

reply

Yeah I saw that one but didn't think it was amazing. That said it wasn't a bad episode and I love the lead actor in that (whatsisname, Father Downling etc)
