Buried alive?

Is there an episode in which a man gets buried alive at the end? I remember seeing it vagueley as a kid... I think he had a moustache

reply

Is that the one where he pretends to be dead in order to escape from prison? fraud life insurance policy? or something like that but the man who is suppose to collect him either dies (and the man who is buried alive ends up being buried with him) or he double crosses him.

I have seem variations on this tale. Does any of it sound familiar?

I remember watching a programme years ago, I think it was a Hitchcock short, and it was about a woman in prison who bribed a guard to get her out in a coffin with a corpse...at the end it shows the coffin being taken out, then it shows her in it striking a match and the person in the coffin is the dead guard! It still haunts me!

Rather than Tales Of the Unexpected, this sounds like Bargain in Death, a segment of the 1973 Amicus horror compendium Vault of Horror.

Michael Craig (with moustache) plays a businessman who fakes his own death to claim the insurance money. However he is tricked by his business partner and ends up buried alive inside a coffin.

When all appears lost however he is dug up by two medical students Robin Nedwell & Geoffrey Davies who are after body parts. As the coffin lid opens though, he is clouted on the head and killed by the gravedigger, Arthur Mullard.

I'm pretty sure that was Tales of the Unexpected. I remember that very episode, but it wasn't a man, it was a women in a womens prison who struck a deal with the groudsman. When the bell was heard it meant someone had died, basically the women got into the coffin with the dead person expecting to get dug up again once buried, by the groundsman, and then escape. Once buried she strikes a match and realises that the person she's buried with is the groundsman, so she's a bit stuffed, buried alive.
I was a kid when I saw that on an old black and white TV, still sticks in my mind to this day, Roald Dahl was a genius

Yes. In the classic "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" the protaganist was a man. So many of these still haunt me!

I remember seeing this episode when I was a kid in the 80's as an episode of the revamped "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" great stuff!

The episode in question is called 'Final Escape'.
There was a 1980s version of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, in which the inmate was a female.

Yes, it was Season Hubley. Quite a nasty character she played, too.
