Which ones are scary?

I take it that this was a series, much like Twilight Zone or Tales from the Crypt. So that means, that not all of the genres of the episodes necessarily revolve around horror.

Would anyone be able to tell me which ones are the horror ones?

~thanks ahead of time..

I wouldn't say any are particularly scary, but a few are disturbing. They're closer to the Twilight Zone than Tales from the Crypt really and are generally set in the modern day.

The Landlady and The Flypaper are both disturbing episodes and among the best stories of the series.

The Landlady gave me nightmares for years.
Still hate it it with a passion and there is no way I'd never watch it again. I still can't stand anything stuffed, gives me the creeps. Daft thing is we stayed in a very creepy B+B in Bath once. Never, ever again. (The episode was set in a B+B in Bath)

I assume you declined the late night cup of tea? :)

Yeah, the best Andy, two episodes is about all!

The tea tasted bitter!

The first time I saw 'Man From The South', I had to have it on mute. I had no idea how this story was going to end, and I just could not bear the sound of horror from the spectators should the lighter not light, and then the scream of pain from the young man as he gets his finger chopped off. For a cheaply made, one-off blackly-homoured half hour story, this is one of the most powerful, terrifying dramas I've ever seen!

Scrimshaw (S8Ep4) and Number Eight (S7Ep5) also had disturbing endings.

Scrimshaw's ending was more disturbing because it was so unexpected. Number Eight's ending was more predictable.

I think the most hilarious bit in The Landlady is when she comes out with 'he didn't have a blemish on his body' and the look on the guys face is priceless :)

The only really messed-up one I've seen is Georgy Porgy.

I'm watching that now on telly - really weird and creepy episode.

The Flypaper is horrible as well. Been watching episodes on YouTube. The Landlady is odd and macarbe but not too scary, IMHO.

Flypaper and the Landlady and I actually think Dip in the Pool is quite horrifying when you think about it for a bit.

These are some great posts -

whilst we're on the subject though, could anyone explain the weird relationship between little George and his mother in Porgie?

What's all this about her trying to eat him?
And do rabbits eat their babies??

Basically the stories written by Dahl himself are the best and creepy...they aint horror like Tales From The Crypt though but fall very close to the genre

so you have

The Man From The South
Lamb To The Slaughter
Royal Jelly
Skin
William And Mary
The Landlady

of those the most "horror" are The Landlady - *beep* thats just creepy and Royal Jelly which is OTT but you will get a buzz from it

Of the non Dahl stories - Flypaper is the best IMHO

OP would be better looking at Hammer House Of Horror which is closer to Tales From The Crypt
