The Dahl remakes - better than the originals?

For me TOTU was a great series at the start and it was my first exposure to Roald Dahl stories. I now realise some that appeared in TOTU also appeared on TV many years before...Lamb To The Slaughter, Man From The South, The Landlady, William And Mary ...are the originals better?

Last week I watched The Landlady. This was a Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. A black and white film starring Dean Stockwell. It was no way near as eerie as the TOTU version. Nevertheless, still enjoyable.
