Ian McShane trying to kill wife - episode?

I could've sworn up until I started looking at episode guides and watching eps of TOTU on YouTube that this programme I remember was from this series, but I can't find anything that's like it - does anyone know which series it did come from?

A man who I'm almost definite is played by Ian McShane plays a trick on his wife/lover by getting her to run into his arms on a cliff then moving away at the last minute. He says he did this for a joke, but the woman becomes obsessed with thinking he wants to kill her, refusing to eat food he's made . It turns out he is trying to kill her, and sets up a trap for her to be trapped in a walk in freezer, but it goes wrong and he ends up trapped and dying in there.
This was definitely on BBC1 or ITV between the years 1985 and 1989, and I'm pretty sure it was an episode of some kind of anthology programme - as I said, I was sure it was TOTU, but I can't find any episode like this

sounds more like an episode of Thriller to me

There was an episode called "Sauce for the Goose" with an ending involving a walk-in freezer. I don't remember all the rest of it, but at the end a freezer repairman shows the wife that there is a bicycle tire hung over the hook that is supposed to catch the freezer door when it opens. He warns her that leaving the tire there could cause the door to bounce off the tire and close. After he leaves the room, she puts the tire back up on the hook and then goes upstairs and tells her husband to get some fish out of the freezer. He is suspicious and seeing the tire on the hook props the door open, they yells to his wife that he can't find the fish and he puts it deep in the freezer. He hides and when she nervously goes into the freezer to reach the fish he shuts the door on her and leaves her to freeze to death. Later, when he goes to make sure she is dead he forgets about the tire still being on the hook and the door does bounce off it and closes on him leaving him trapped inside to freeze to death as well. Does that match the episode you are thinking of? It was Robert Morse who played the husband though, not Ian McShane.

Yeah, I found out the answer a while ago - this was a short story called Sauce For The Goose that was made for tv twice, once as the Tales episode with Robert Morse and again as another tv anthology episode which starred Ian McShane and was the one I was thinking of - but thanks for the reply

The Ian McShane episode was called Sauce for the Goose and was part of a series called Mistress of Suspense.
