Pattern of Guilt - Confused - SPOILERS

So am I right in to believing the guy who kills his wife and thinks he's gets away with it doesn't. As he realizes that the cops find the killer in such a state, and the timeline means him framing the killer doesn't work and then is implicated in the end by the old man who seen him earlier?.

Yep, you hit the nail right on the head, and worse yet he has in his possession the sneakers and the gun that were used in all of the known murders. I think he left one of the signature poodle towels at his wife's house, but he still has the shoes and the gun. I just saw this one recently and loved the ending.
